My messy story (and why I finally found what works)

In case you didn't know this - I am far from perfect (insert gasps of surprise here đ±).
I'd like to tell you about the time I begged my doctor to extend my medically supervised liquid diet. You know, the one where I paid a small fortune for packets of powder that I'd blend with ice, trying desperately to make them taste like actual food?
I was convinced that if I could extend the fast for 60 days instead of 30, THAT would be the magic that would finally have me lose all the weight. And I was terrified I would gain the weight back that I lost in the first 30 days. The desperation was real, y'all.
For years, I bounced between extremes. Weighing lettuce (yes, lettuce) like those grams were going to solve all my problems. White-knuckling through another restrictive meal plan. Reading every book, trying every approach, listening to every expert who promised they had THE answer.
And then when it inevitably didn't work? I'd flip to the other extreme. Screw it - why even try? I'd eat whatever I wanted, completely checking out, convincing myself I didn't care. Until I couldn't take it anymore, and back to restriction and white-knuckling I'd go.
Back and forth. Over and over.
Five years ago, everything shifted. I stopped fighting my body and started partnering with it.
That's when I naturally discovered intuitive eating, which led me to intermittent fasting, keto, and carnivore - and another 150 pounds melted off.
I dove deep into research on insulin resistance, hormone balance, and metabolic health to understand the science behind what my body already knew.
And that's when I discovered Fast Like a Girl.
Here's what made Fast Like a Girl different from everything else I'd tried:
It worked WITH my body's natural rhythms. And here's the breakthrough: I finally understood WHY I gained weight so easily and rapidly when everyone else seemed to eat whatever they wanted. It wasn't about lack of willpower or laziness. It was insulin resistance, hormonal imbalance, and metabolic dysfunction.
This was a lifestyle built on body partnership - and it actually felt sustainable.
Dr. Mindy Pelz created the Fast Like a Girl methodology specifically for women's bodies and hormonal cycles. Her research and teaching showed me that women's bodies are designed to fast differently than men's - honoring our menstrual cycles, adjusting our approach through different life stages, and understanding how our hormones interact with food, stress, and metabolism.
That's when all the puzzle pieces fell into place with lots of AHA moments as I discovered missing information.
I was so inspired by what I was learning, I jumped into Dr. Mindy's training program and am proud to be a Certified Fast Like a Girl Coach.
Now I help women skip the expensive experiments and years of confusion. Guiding women back to their own body wisdom while understanding the science that makes it all work - this is what lights me up.
